Blue Bloods teases deadly secret mission in season 14

Jamie Reagan will be pushed into a dangerous situation.

Blue Bloods is getting closer to the premiere of season 14 and it seems like every day brings new plot details. Fans have been told that season 14 will be the last leg of the Reagan family’s road, so interest has turned to what will happen to them as they prepare to wrap up a decade and a half of their story.

Well, according to TV Insider, part of the Reagan family story will include a secret mission. It’s been a while since fans have seen one of the family members risk their lives undercover, but that’s exactly what will happen to Jamie Reagan (Will Estes).

The newspaper reveals that Jamie will go undercover with a new criminal named Hader (Aaron Abrams). This sheds light on set photos fans have previously seen of Jamie, which include sporting tattoos, a beard, and a generally rougher-than-usual fashion sense.

Estes has spoken about his desire to experiment and try different things with his character in recent years, and a secret mission is the perfect outlet for these different experiments. Not much has been revealed about Hader as a character, or how much of a presence he will have in season 14 as a whole, but Aaron Abrams is a fascinating TV character, as evidenced by his join

As for what Estes hopes for in the long run, the actor explained to Looper that he wishes to end Blue Bloods on an emotionally satisfying note. However, he made a point to keep specific details about the show’s finale under wraps:

“Personally, I’ve thought about it because I’ve been on the show for so long, but I haven’t thought about it very creatively. I don’t know what it’s going to look like creatively. I really hope we get a chance to… wrap things up and watch these characters walk off into the sunset, so to speak, when the show ends.

There’s been some chatter from fans that Jamie has been stuck in a rut in recent seasons, especially when it comes to his relationship with Janko (Vanessa Ray), so we’re hoping that plot story involving his secret mission would help resolve this issue and reinvigorate the character heading into the show’s home stretch.
