Tony Sirico was an American actor born in New York City on July 29, 1942.

Sirico’s career began in 1977 after he portrayed the role of Frankie Rio in Hughes and Harlow: Angels in Hell.

Over the years, Sirco appeared in several projects, including Goodfellas, Mighty Aphrodite, and Café Society.

However, Sirico’s most recognized role was his role as Paulie “Walnuts” Gualtieri on HBO’s The Sopranos.
He also lent his voice to animated shows like Family Guy and American Dad.

Sirico’s death was first announced by his Sopranos co-star, Michael Imperioli, in a touching Instagram tribute.

“It pains me to say that my dear friend, colleague and partner in crime, the great TONY SIRICO has passed away today,” he wrote.

“Tony was like no one else: he was as tough, as loyal and as big hearted as anyone i’ve ever known. I was at his side through so much: through good times and bad. But mostly good.


He continued: “…we had a lot of laughs. We found a groove as Christopher and Paulie and I am proud to say I did a lot of my best and most fun work with my dear pal Tony.

“I will miss him forever. He is truly irreplaceable. I send love to his family, friends and his many many fans. He was beloved and will never be forgotten. Heartbroken today.”

A cause of death has yet to be released, however, the Soprano’s star was diagnosed with dementia years before his passing.

Shortly after Imperioli’s announcement, several fans took to X, formerly known as Twitter to pay tribute to the late star.
“R.I.P. Tony Sirico, a f***ing legend. A real-life gangster who cleaned up his life, took several small parts in New York gangster movies (including Tony Stacks in Goodfellas), and then got the role of a lifetime as Paulie Walnuts. This week sucks,” one fan tweeted.

“Damn. RIP Tony Sirico aka Paulie. He gave us one of the best characters in tv-shows history,” another added.

Honoring the fallen stars on the show, Max revealed they will be doing a 25th-anniversary celebration of The Sopranos beginning January 8, 2024.

The celebration includes 15 never-before-seen deleted footage and over five hours of behind-the-scenes material.
The celebration will run through February 4 where fans can expect a cast reunion, a Satriale pop-up sandwich shop in New York and Los Angeles, and an opportunity for fans to eat Sopranos-themed food at DaNico’s in New York City.
